Dear Families, this is your last robocall for the school year! On behalf of our staff, I want to wish you a restful, fun, adventurous summer! Please know that our office will be open until June 16th. Our invitation only zoo themed summer school runs from June 12-July 17th with no school July 4th. Kids care for LT students will be at Miwok so that our custodians can do needed maintenance work on our building over the summer. A notice went home providing information about the  Old Adobe School District summer food program that will feed children 0-18 years old for free. Please note that these meals will be at Miwok, not La Tercera. Please visit the Old Adobe School District website for more information.

Every summer I think about  Luther Burbank, one of our most famous Sonoma County residents,  who developed over 800 strains and varieties of plants in his lifetime and whose house you can visit in downtown Santa Rosa. We strive at La Tercera to educate the whole child. Summer is also a time to discover the world and learn in the beauty of our natural world. Here is Luther Burbank’s advice on education;
“Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, water bugs, tadpoles, frogs, mud turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb. Brooks to wade, water lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies, various animals to pet, hayfields, pine-cones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets; and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of education.”
― Luther Burbank
I hope to see you out and about this summer. Fondly, Mrs. Hodge

What a fabulous weekend with our super successful Fiesta on Saturday! Thank you to the countless volunteers that made this major PTA event so fun and memorable. A HUGE thank you to Caroline Marsten, organizer extraordinaire and Jennifer Spengler and Lisa Kaku  who were behind all the auction items. We could not forget Kiri Brackett who is the artistic talent behind the flyers. Come to our PTA meeting this Tuesday at 7:00pm to learn more!

Thank you for all your signs of love and appreciation during Staff Appreciation week, this week. Friday is a minimum day, with release at 11:50am. La Tercera PTA will be hosting a staff appreciation luncheon right after school, so it is vital that your student is picked up at 11:50am, we appreciate you!
Lastly, this week kicks off our state standardized testing with 4th and 5th graders testing all week, in the mornings all this week.  3rd and 6th graders begin their testing next Monday, May 15th. Please make sure your student gets a good night rest, stays hydrated and comes to school ready to shine on these end-of-the year tests! Our Eagles are well prepared and know how to think through problems using their problem-solving skills honed through our hands-on, STEM focus. Pack your child a healthy snack as they will be hungry after their morning tests!
I'm almost finished with my autographed book, Smarty Mary Steps Up Her Game, I am loving this book even more after meeting the author, Amy G! Our students were a fabulous audience and filled me with Eagle pride! See you on campus this week!
